Understanding CLUNI for civil society organizations
A practical overview of what the CLUNI system involves and how administrative preparation supports the registration and reporting process.
This guide is informational only. For official CLUNI procedures, consult INDESOL (Instituto Nacional de Desarrollo Social) directly at their official channels. Requirements and processes may change. Visahozz helps with administrative preparation, not with official filings or legal representation.
The registry explained
CLUNI stands for Clave Única de Inscripción, and it is the registration system administered by INDESOL for civil society organizations in Mexico. Registration in this system is governed by the Ley Federal de Fomento a las Actividades Realizadas por Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil (LFFAROSC).
Organizations with CLUNI registration have access to government support programs, can apply for certain federal funding, and demonstrate a baseline of administrative transparency to donors and partners. It is not mandatory for all civil associations, but it is commonly required by funders and public programs.
Maintaining CLUNI registration requires submitting an annual report to INDESOL. This report covers the organization's activities, resources, and governance during the previous year.
What the CLUNI annual report covers
The annual report submitted to INDESOL typically includes information across several categories. Administrative preparation makes this process more manageable.
Organizational information
Basic data about the organization, its legal status, governing body, and registered address. This should be current and match your legal documents.
Activities carried out
A description of the activities your organization carried out during the reporting year, aligned with the object stated in your constitutive documents.
Resources received and applied
Information about the resources your organization received during the year, including donations, and how those resources were applied to your activities.
Governance and decision-making
Information about your organization's governing body, meetings held, and decisions made during the year.
How Visahozz helps with CLUNI preparation
The CLUNI annual report draws on information that your organization should be maintaining throughout the year. When that information is not organized, compiling the report becomes a significant effort.
Visahozz helps by working with the information your organization has and organizing it into the format and structure the report requires. We identify what is complete, what is missing, and what needs to be gathered before the report can be prepared.
We review what documentation your organization currently has and identify gaps relative to what the report requires.
We compile the information from your records into the structure the report requires.
We prepare the organized administrative documents ready for your organization to review and submit.
Important: Visahozz prepares the administrative information and documentation. The actual submission of the annual report to INDESOL is done by your organization or its authorized representative. We provide the organized input, not the filing.
Plan ahead
CLUNI annual reports have submission deadlines. Starting the administrative preparation process well before the deadline gives your organization time to gather any missing information without pressure.
